Look at a man’s resume and you will see his work history laid out for you. But his impact may only be guesswork. But God knows. God knows and makes some people His own. He calls His own into service for His kingdom. He calls the selfless. He calls the righteous. He calls the just. He calls the loving. But He also calls the lost, the lonely and the broken only to arm them for battle in His name. He grants them experience that births knowledge to share with the unschooled and wise man alike. He positions His own to speak out against tyranny, deceit and unGodly behavior. He calls those with a heart to comfort and love even the most despicable among men. He calls them forth, grows, nurtures and propagates them. He lets them scatter their seeds so that they, too, may take root and prosper for the kingdom. And when a greater need arises He transplants them. It is all too human for us to mourn change. Perhaps because our loss comes from a complacency that has made us forget what a blessing we have in our lives. But we need only to remember that God has a plan for His servants — all of His servants. He orchestrates the ones He places in the mission field and the ones He leaves in their homes. One season may be over but, Praise God it’s just beginning for another. Others will be blessed to hear the Word of God from your faithful servant. Another will have their tears wiped away, their fears calmed, and their mountains will crumble all because they have been led to the Savior. We live in troubled times and God needs his best on the frontline. From these He chooses His generals. And from these He choses His Brigadier Generals.
Heavenly Father: Thank you for the season we in Fort Wayne have had with two in whom you have so much favor: what leaders Pastors Ron and Joy Hawkins have been for us. Your love for them is apparent; it shows in their actions toward us. We have been so richly blessed because of the gifts you have given them and with which they have so graciously shared. God, that you would share servants like Pastors Ron and Joy with us is more evidence of your love for us. Be with them; love them; and keep them safe. They are deeply and truly loved.
